Director of Admission and Financial Aid

Ridgefield Academy is seeking qualified candidates for the Director of Admission and Financial Aid position at our Ridgefield Campus, effective July 2012. The successful candidate will have proven admissions experience, with demonstrated leadership in developing new strategies in cooperation with a designated Board committee to advance our school. This position, reporting directly to the Head of School, will oversee and guide all aspect the admission, enrollment, re-enrollment and retention processes with a strong view toward directions in marketing. The ability to partner effectively with all members of the administrative team and faculty is essential.

Additional Requirements of Position:
• Three to six years admissions experience, preferably in a preschool – 8th grade independent school environment, is required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be detail-oriented

Development Manager

Ridgefield Academy, Inc. is seeking a Development Manager who will be responsible for fundraising activities for our three-campus (Ridgefield, Redding & Westport) preschool – 8th grade school as related to the Annual Fund, Annual Giving, and Capital Campaigns and be responsible for alumni relations. The main objective is to adhere to a strategic plan to procure funds for the school while promoting its mission and programs.

It is essential that the Development Manager understand and support the mission of Ridgefield Academy as fundamental to all Advancement Office activities. S/he must be conscientious and maintain confidentiality of constituent and donor information. The Development Manager will focus on researching/soliciting donors for charitable gifts as well as generating ideas for fostering the education and development of charitable giving at RA. S/he creates and administers all fundraising programs. The Development Manager will also assist the parent association with fundraising activities.

The Development Manager will report directly to the Director of Advancement. S/he will supervise gift/pledge processing and will provide back-up support as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, persistent, a creative problem-solver, a team player, and enjoys interacting with donors, trustees, and other administrators. A basic knowledge of fundraising management is required.

All administrators at RA are flexible and willing to “roll up their sleeves” to get the job done. We are looking for someone to join our team that will do the same. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software and independent school or non-profit experience a plus.

Graphic Arts/Digital Media Arts Teacher

The Graphic Arts/Digital Media Arts Teacher position is a newly created assignment for the 2012 - 2013 academic year. The successful candidate will have proven classroom experience teaching graphic arts/digital media arts and enjoy working as part of a team.

Responsibilities will include teaching multi-media activities (graphic arts, animation, digital photography, etc.) for students in grades 4-8, in coordination with our current Digital Media Arts Teacher, and teaching computer to 4th and 5th Grade students (Type To Learn, Word, Excel, etc.) It is also important that this individual be able to inspire and help manage efforts by other teachers to use the media arts to further instruction.

Must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite software, Word and Excel. Experience using Final Cut Pro; DragOn; stop-action animation is desired, along with knowledge of Robotics.

Position may include afterschool activities and teaching of summer programs.
