Here are some links to wonderful books! This page is organized by grade level, but feel free to 'hop around' and explore what students in other grades are reading. You might find a book or author that you can't live without!

If you are looking for the Summer Reading Requirements (books and assignments that must be completed for the start of the new school year), click here.  Please note, you will be required to sign into the Academic Portal in order to view the Required Reading lists.  If you have trouble logging in please contact Rebecca Toon by phone at ext 160, or by email.

If you would like to discuss any of the books that you have read or that you are intending to read, my door is always open....

Remember: Reading is fun. Take in every word and enjoy the places you'll travel to!

Great books for....

Is this the right book for me?
There is a tried and true method of checking if a book is right for you. It's called the five finger rule.

Open a book to any page and start reading. If you run across a word that you do not understand or cannot pronounce, hold up one finger and continue reading. If you come across another word that you don't understand, hold up another finger - now 2 fingers are held up. If, at the end of reading that page, you have 5 fingers up, the book might be a little too challenging for you. You may want to select another book.

Remember to challenge yourself a bit - try to pick a book that has just a few words that you will have to investigate. Not only will you get to read a wonderful book, but you'll expand your vocabulary too!

Click on the link below for another method for picking just the right book. If you pick a book that you think is perfect for you and you decide after reading some of it that it is not, return it to the library and get another book....at least you can say you tried!
