Athletics for Upper School students are an important part of the Ridgefield Academy education. Our coaching staff, which includes many members of the teaching faculty, encourages development of sport specific skills and strategies, confidence, self-discipline, teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship. It is the expectation that all sixth through eighth grade students fully participate in practices and games in each of the three seasons. As members of the Fairchester Athletic Association, our upper school teams compete with other local independent schools. In the fall, we offer cross-country (co-ed), volleyball (co-ed), boys and girls soccer and field hockey. In the winter, students may play boys or girls basketball, or participate in various types of fitness classes. The spring sports include baseball, softball, cross-country (co-ed), boys and girls lacrosse.
Our outdoor athletic facilities include a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field and a new
baseball and softball field, both overlooking one of the most spectacular views in Ridgefield. Our gymnasium hosts our basketball and volleyball programs.
