Upon entering Ridgefield Academy, students, faculty and staff are assigned to either the Blue or White team, a designation that stays with them throughout their tenure at RA. Incoming siblings are placed on the same team as their older siblings. A variety of activities throughout the year are contested for points that accumulate toward the presentation of the Blue-White banner to the winning team at the final school-wide assembly in June. The intent of the program is to foster healthy competition in a variety of activities. Whether it is a 4th and 5th grade intramural basketball game, second grade tangram activity, the collection of Box Tops For Education, or Field Day activities, every member of the community has the opportunity to contribute points toward their team's chance of capturing the banner.
