An Afternoon with Juan Muñoz, Mexican Artist
Recently, Ridgefield Academy was pleased to welcome accomplished Mexican artist and author Juan Eduardo Muñoz Balderas to campus as part of the Academy's art enrichment program. Mr. Muñoz visited the middle and upper school classrooms to discuss his artistic journey and demonstrate his painting technique. The program was brought to the Academy courtesy of Ken and Anna Nowak.

Born in Santa Rose Jaurequi Queretaro, Mexico in 1965, Mr. Muñoz's parents recognized his artistic talent at a young age. He studied at the Pintura en Bellas Artes de Queretaro and well as la Academia Pena en Madrid and spent time painting with Andalucian artists and painters. In 1999, he traveled to Florence to study art and painted extensively throughout the Toscany region. His colorful and textural oil paintings reflect the beauty of nature in compositions that evoke movement and energy.

Mr. Muñoz is the recipient of many awards and honorable mentions of distinction for his art. His works reside in numerous government and municipal buildings in his home town and Mexico City.
