Sportsmanship Shines Bright in Lady Patriots |

In Girls 6/7th grade basketball action on Thursday, February 9th, the Lady Patriots were down 12-9 in the fourth quarter. As time was running down, RA's point guard Sarah Cox threw up a three point shot as the final buzzer sounded and her swish brought her team to an even 12-12 tie! Coach Mac stated, "It was an amazing finish to an absolutely incredible game. Both teams gave 110% and left the court with such a feeling of success!" Prior to the start of the game 7th graders Lauren Lamb and Isabel Geelan joined the Mizzentop team to help balance out the attack. Coach Mac stated how impressed she was with both girls for taking such leadership roles and for their courageous sportsmanship. Lamb led all scorers with 12 points for Mizzentop. Rounding out the scoring for RA was Sarah Cox with 5 points, Karyn Bartosic with 4 points, Lindy Burke with 2 points and Eleanor Henrich with one point. Coach Mac also commented on the performance of sixth graders Abby Chow and Rebecca Taylor. "Both girls showed such improvement today as well as confidence. They did an outstanding job both offensively and defensively!
The Lady Patriots are back in action on Monday, February 13th as they travel to Greens Farm Academy for a 4:15pm start. |

Lady Patriots Play Tough Against Unquowa |

The Lady Patriots 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team flew around the court for loose basketballs on Tuesday, January 24th. Though they fell to Unquowa 14-33, they pushed hard through the fourth quarter until the final buzzer. Sophie McLaughlin led the charge with 6 points from the paint. Sydney Lamb and Grace Henrich each scored 4 points and provided strength down low to slow down the Unquowa offense. The lady Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday, February 7th as they travel to Carmel Academy. |

Lady Patriots Tie NCCS with Last Minute Basket |

Sixth grader Karyn Bartosic scored with ten seconds remaining on the clock to secure a tie in yesterdays 6th/7th grade girls basketball match up with New Canaan Country School. At the end of regulation play, both teams found themselves gridlocked at 14 points even. As the score clock was reset to add another four minutes of play, both teams recharged and battled back and forth to ultimately end the game with a tie. The tempo of the game was as even as they come as both teams were perfectly matched. Coach Curry commented after the game about the overall improvement from the start of the season as the team was more aggressive and did an outstanding job rebounding. Grace Henrich, Sydney Lamb, and Lauren Lamb did a wonderful job under the basket grabbing both offensive and defensive rebounds. Abigail Chow, Isabel Geelan, Melissa Savoy,Samantha Kann and Eleanor Henrich played tenacious defense and did a fabulous job shutting down their opponents outside shots. Karyn Bartosic, Sarah Cox, and Lindy Burke were instrumental in running an offense that was aggressively taking shots and moving the ball around the perimeter. The scoring for the lady patriots was a nice collaboration from Grace Henrich, Samantha Kann, Sydney Lamb, Melissa Savoy, and Karyn Bartosic each scoring 2 points while Lauren Lamb added 6. The lady patriots improve to 1-1-1 on the season and will play home on Tuesday, January 24th against Unquowa at 3:45pm. |

Lady Patriots Miss by Ten Against Greenwich Catholic |

The Ridgefield Academy girls 6th/7th Lady Patriots basketball team fell 29-39 to Greenwich Catholic on Tuesday, January 10th. Despite the eight point defecit in the first quarter, the Lady Patriots worked extremely hard to stage a comeback. Lauren Lamb led the way offensively and defensively, scoring a season and career high 22 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. "The entire team showed tremendous improvement from their last game," stated Coach Curry. Contributing to the scoring were Sydney Lamb with 4 points, Sarah Cox who sunk her first shot of the season for 2 points and Karyn Bartosic with 1 point. On defense, both Grace and Eleanor Henrich did a fantastic job creating turnovers and opportunities for the Lady Patriots. The girls are back in action and on the road on Thursday, January 19th against New Canaan Country School. |

Lady Patriots Begin Season with Win Over GFA |

The 6th and 7th Grade Lady Patriots Basketball team opened the 2012 season with a 19-17 victory over Greens Farm Academy on Wednesday, January 4th. Lauren Lamb led the way for the home team scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Sydney Lamb, Karyn Bartosic and Grace Henrich each contributed 4,2,and 1 points respectively. Point guard Sarah Cox and guard Rebecca Taylor did a nice job controlling the offense. Eleanor Henrich was a force on defense, while teammates Abby Chow and Isabel Geelan played well on both sides of the ball. The Lady Patriots are on the road to Greenwich Catholic on Tuesday, January 10th. |
