Ridgefield Rivals Rye Country Day School |
On Thursday, May 8th, the Ridgefield Academy Boys LaCrosse team hosted Rye Country Day School in what turned out to be a great game of LAX. Several of Ridgefield Academy's stars really shined. On offense, Byron Duncan and Cameron Imrie stepped up big, helping on both Attack and Midfielder positions. On defense, a solid line of Kevin Maldonado, Ethan Nowak and Anthony Perkins stood guard in front of goaltender, Robert Nielsen. St. Mary's Desmond Kager helped round out our future offensive threat by having several fantastic offensive series resulting in shots on goal and veteran Simon Stone was barely denied a goal from the side of the net during the second half. Kurt Linke tallied two more goals adding to his team-leading scoring run for the 2011-2012 season. |

Patriots Prove Formidable Foe Against Greenwich Catholic |

On May 3rd, the Ridgefield Academy Boys LaCrosse team welcomed a solid Greenwich Catholic team to the field. As we have seen throughout the season, the Patriots once again rose to the challenge issued them by their opponents. The game was notably close throughout, with Kurt Linke putting RA on the scoreboard first. Through the first half, the Patriots would take the lead, only to be matched by Greenwich Catholic. Halfway through the game, Robert Nielsen stepped in as goalie, relieving Ethan Nowak. Nielsen stood strong between the pipes in the second half. Defense was led by Yuri Kovshov, Kevin Maldonado and St. Mary's Freddy Rio. Offense was again fueled by strong play from Liam Archer, Jay Figurelli, and Reid and Colin Vecchiariello (also from St Marys). Although Greenwich Catholic banked the win, the game was hard fought from start to finish! |

Ridgefield Academy Rivals Rippowam |
The Ridgefield Academy Boy's LaCrosse team played an incredible first game of their 2011-2012 season against a wonderfully matched Rippowam team this past week. From the first face off, both teams displayed fierce determination and physical prowess. The game was offensively dominated, with the two teams trading goals back and forth through each of the four quarters. The Patriots were led in scoring by Kurt Linke, but he was joined on the scoreboard by Liam Archer, Simon Stone and newcomer (from St. Marys) Colin Vecchiariello. Kevin Maldonado, Yuri Kovshov and Greg Venizelos played their best defensively to keep the ball out of the blue team's net and were successful at slowing down this strong opponent later in the game. The final 15-11 (advantage Rippowam) score shows not only the team's determination and spirit but also their hard work on the practice field. The boys play their first home game on Tuesday, April 17th. |
