Lady Patriots Outmaneuver St. Luke's 11-10
On Thursday, May 10th, the Ridgefield Academy Girls Lacrosse team defeated St. Luke's 11-10, in what proved to be an afternoon of lacrosse played at its best. With both teams well-matched score for score, the Patriots defense worked extremely hard to challenge the St. Luke's offensive threat. The defensive play of Christina Thomson, Caitlin Gilroy, Liza Berisford, Adrianna Pappas, Jessica Camarda, Haley Conde, Burke Depuy, Samantha Kann,Michelle Sclafani, MacKenzie Kelly and goalie Sydney Lamb was remarkable!  Offensively for the Patriots, Shannon Coomaraswamy led all scorers with 4 goals. Ellen Pucel, who played the first half of the game, notched three goals before her departure.  Debra Cox and Jessica Camarda each netted 2 goals a piece. Coach McNamara commented on the team after the game, "Every player that stepped on to this field today, gave 110% effort and it showed! I am so proud of the way the team communicated, worked the ball around, and hustled the entire game. They worked hard for this victory today and they certainly earned it!"  The Lady Patriots will play in their final home game on Wednesday, May 16th, against Mizzentop at 3:45pm.
Lady Patriots Tie King 11-11
The Ridgefield Academy Girls Lacrosse team played an outstanding game against King on Monday. Both teams went neck and neck until the final whistle blew which left the game tied 11-11. Goalie Sydney Lamb continued her impressive play in goal as she blocked 20 King shots. Defensively for RA, Adrianna Pappas and Haley Conde did a great job in shutting down possible offensive threats. Debra Cox, Michelle Sclafani and Mac Kelly did a nice job on both sides of the ball as well as setting up shooting opportunities for the Lady Patriots. Shannon Coomaraswamy and Jessica Camarda led the scoring for RA as they each netted 4 goals. Ellen Pucel added 2 goals while Debra cox scored 1. Coach Mac commented on how well the team played the entire game, "From start to finish the girls worked hard and we saw some great lacrosse played today." The Lady Patriots are back in action on Thursday, May 10th against St. Luke's.
Lady Patriots Fall to Greenwich Country Day
On Thursday, April 26th, the Ridgefield Academy Girls Lacrosse team lost to Greenwich Country Day School 12-8. Goalie Sydney Lamb played well in goal for RA, blocking over 20 shots! Jessica Camarda and Shannon Commaraswamy each scored 3 goals while MacKenzie Kelly added 2 to the scoreboard. Coach Mac commented, "We had at least four open shots on goal that we didn't finish, and at the end of the game, those make a tremendous difference."  The Lady Patriots are back in action on Monday as they take on King at home with a 3:45pm game start.
Lady Patriots Win Home Opener Against Greens Farm Academy
On Thursday, April 19th the Lady Patriots defeated Greens Farm Academy 14-12. In their home opener, the trio of Shannon Coomaraswamy (5 goals), MacKenzie Kelly (3 goals) and Jessica Camarda (2 goals) combined to score 10 goals while Ellen Pucel added 2, and Emilia Furlo and Debra Cox each scored 1. "We had excellent passing today, " commented Coach Mac! "Our team showed such improvement from the week before and took the field with more confidence and played tremendously on both sides of the ball." Coach Mac was pleased with the efforts of 7th graders Haley Conde, Susie Clasby, and Christina Thomson as well as 8th graders Michelle Sclafani and Samantha Kann as they did a great job creating opportunities both offensively and defensively for RA. Goalies Sydney Lamb and Erika Linke combined to stop a very eager and aggressive GFA offense. The Lady Patriots are back in action on Thursday, April 26th as they travel to Greenwich Country Day for a 4pm start.
Lady Patriots Come Up Short in Season Opener
The Lady Patriots Lacrosse team fell short in their season opener against St. Luke's, 10-6. Despite St. Luke's 3-0 lead after six minutes of play, the Lady Patriots succeeded in making their presence known on the field as they began an offensive attack. Though they fell just short of a win, it was a great comeback effort and a glimpse of what is yet to come with all of their hard work. Leading the scoring for RA was the trio of MacKenzie Kelly (3 goals), Jessica Camarda (2 goals) and Shannon Coomaraswamy (1 goal). Sydney Lamb was impressive in goal with 10 saves. The Lady Patriots are on their home field, Thursday, April 19th against GFA at 4:00pm.
