General Announcements

RA congratulates the 17 students who spent their weekend serving others through the Youth Service Opportunities Project (YSOP), a nonprofit organization founded in New York City by Quakers in 1983. The students helped prepare and serve meals at a the Meeting House as well as soup kitchens in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. Additionally, they had an opportunity to speak with a social worker about the importance of volunteering and share a meal with soup kitchen guests.

Spring Food Drive is On!

Our final food drive of the 2011/2012 school year has begun! Please bring canned goods and nonperishable items to the Summit lobby and the Annex lobby between May 21- June 1. Some food will be divided and delivered to the Ridgefield Food Pantry by Grade 2 on their field trip to Town Hall; the remainder will be delivered to the Jane Addams Place in Philadelphia by Grade 8 during their service learning trip to Philadelphia.

Drop-Off Safety

Safety needs to trump convenience, so to avoid the congestion at the crosswalk in front of the Lynch House each morning, we ask that all parents drop Middle and Upper School students off each morning and pick up each afternoon at the rear entrance to the Annex. The Lynch House circle will be closed to routine traffic from 8:15am -8:35am each day. If a child is disabled or there is a pressing reason to use the Lynch House entrance, the crosswalk volunteer will remove the cones for you. Thank you for your support.

How are the Science Projects Going?

The 2012 Science Expo happens on May 31 and June 1! Our science teachers suggest you get your Trifolds done by May 25 (next Friday!) so that you may enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. Trifolds may be dropped off on the stage in the Gym starting the morning of May 30. Have fun!

Campout is Friday, June 1

The Campout for students in Grades 1 - 3 will happen on Friday, June 1. Let's hope for dry weather on that night so we can all meet up at the lower fields around 5:00pm to pitch our tents and enjoy a delicious outdoor dinner. We'll have fun with some traditional campfire activities until it's time to hit the sack. At 7:00am on Saturday we'll share a scrumptious Survivor's Breakfast before we depart by 9:00am. See Campout Info for all the information you need for this annual event. Hope you can join us! RSVP to kmorgan@ridgefieldacademy.org.

Last Call for Bravo Submissions

Students in the Bravo literary magazine elective are compiling our third edition. We need submissions in the forms of: poetry, brief writing pieces (one page, double-spaced), photography, pictures of artwork, etc. All submissions should be sent to: LitMag@ridgefieldacademy.org as an email attachment. We prefer the written work to be submitted in Word. As we have moved to a digital format, we can allow each child to submit one written piece as well as one artwork/photo. Please make sure the filename includes the last name and first initial of the author. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact chruska@ridgefieldacademy.org.
