Welcome to School Year 2010 - 2011!
Head of School Jim Heus welcomed all students to Ridgefield Academy on Wednesday in an all-school assembly held in the gymnasium. He asked all returning students to remember what it is like to be in unfamiliar surroundings, and encouraged each student to reach out to those who are joining us for the first time this year. Children also pointed out the new teachers joining our talented faculty, and when asked what is new around campus, students referenced everything from the new language lab to pathway railings to a "fresh smell in the halls." "This is going to be a fantastic year," commented Mr. Heus. "We are all looking forward to working with you as you grow and learn at our school."
It is a privilege to work with your children, and we are thankful for the opportunity. We look forward to building relationships with your family and working together to continue to offer an enriching education in this nurturing and supportive school community. Best wishes for a wonderful 2010-2011 school year!
While You Were Out...
While students were off at camp, family vacations and enjoying some summer reading, the Ridgefield Academy campus was a busy place over the summer in preparation for the arrival of our students this fall. Thanks to generous donations to our Annual Fund, we were able to make the following enhancements:
- New language lab in the Annex Building
- All new Macintosh computers in the Library
- All computers in our MS and US computer lab replaced with Macintosh computers
- A newly-built larger, more functional Nurse's Office in the Summit Building
- Remodeled hallway and stairwell between the Lynch House and Annex Building
- New athletic practice field
- New treads on the stairwells in the Annex Building
- New handrails along two of our paths between parking lots and buildings
- Newly paved walking path from the lower parking lot to the Summit Building
- Beautiful student artwork decorating many hallways!
