| A Look at What's Happening at Landmark... | | | | | | | | No School Today, Thursday, November 11th A reminder that there will be no school today, Thursday, November 11th, Veteran’s Day. Our Faculty will be participating in an in-service day, which will include child protection training and additional SmartBoard training Inclement WeatherMonday’s early morning hailstorm was a reminder that winter weather is just around the corner. Within the next week, we will be conducting a test of our SchoolReach automated message system. All parents should be aware that we may follow different procedures than the Westport public schools during inclement weather due to site specific conditions and staffing requirements. We will alert you by email before launching a test of this system.
NAEYC ConferenceEach year, our annual fund is dedicated to providing our faculty with exceptional professional development experiences. Educational researchers have repeatedly found that good teachers and administrators make the biggest positive impact on student learning outcomes. This conference, presented by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is the largest conference dedicated to early childhood professionals in the country. Keeping our faculty current and revitalized with new ideas is one of the ways we keep the best things happening in our classrooms. This year, our music teacher, Mrs. Linda Reynolds and our P.E. teacher Mrs. Leslie Chiodi attended the conference and came back filled with enthusiasm and wonderful new ideas. Many thanks to all who supported our annual fund last year for making this opportunity possible.
Calling All Siblings….Re-enrollment time is just around the corner! We give currently enrolled families priority in the enrollment process for next year and that does include siblings, if you fill out an application for them! For more information, please contact Kim McElderry at 203-544-8393 or kmcelderry@landmarkpreschool.org

Come meet our knowledgeable teachers and learn about the wonderful things in store for your child!
Toddler TunesOur Fun for Ones program has been so popular, we had requests to offer a music program for the little ones and their caregivers. We are excited to announce “Toddler Tunes” for children from nine to twenty-one months. The sessions are taught by Paula Darlington, a certified Music Together instructor, who enjoys teaching music to preschoolers and those who love them. The session will run each Monday through November 29th. We still have some spots open, so if you or someone you know is interested in registering for this program, please call our office at 203-226-6982 or email Fran Scippa at fscippa@landmarkpreschool.org
Mandarin ClubStudents in our Fours through Kindergarten have the opportunity to explore Chinese language and culture. Mandarin club is taught by Wei Huang, an instructor with the Chinese Language School of Connecticut. The club meets Tuesdays, 3:00-3:45 PM through November 30th, and there are still a few spots available. Thanksgiving Food Drive Beginning this week through Friday, November 19th, we will be collecting nonperishable canned and boxed food as well as gift cards to local grocery stores for the Connecticut Food Bank in Fairfield. There will be a box located outside of each classroom for your donations. We will also need several volunteers to deliver the items on Friday the 19th. If you would like to volunteer, please email Sarah Wolf at swolf@landmarkpreschool.org.
