| A Look at What's Happening at Landmark... | | | | | | | | Welcome Back!
We wish all our families a very happy 2011 and hope that you all enjoyed the break! We look forward to the months ahead with your children, as we have many exciting things planned! We would also like to welcome two new families who have just joined our community, The Wilkowski family, whose daughters Darin and Brooke have joined Mrs. Caroll’s Fives class, and the Montoya family, whose daughter Maggie has joined Mrs. Macchia’s class, and whose son Teddy has joined Mrs. Cortigiano’s class.
Congratulations!
Kerrie and Leonard Cortigiano welcomed baby girl Braedynn Elizabeth, 8lbs 13 ozs. on December 19th. Both Mrs. Cortigiano and baby Braedynn are doing well, and enjoying a little time at home together. Our thanks to Dr. Mecurio Morse, better known as “Miss Mia” and to Mrs. Shah and Mrs. DiMeglio; Mrs. Cortigiano is delighted that her classroom is in such capable hands.
Thank you!
Our generous families donated over 100 coats during our coat drive in December, and we received a letter from the Connecticut Food Bank letting us know that our food drive brought in 625 lbs of much-needed food for Connecticut’s neediest families. Many thanks to all who opened their hearts to those in need.

Welcome Yale University
A team from Yale University’s Social and Cognitive Development Laboratory will be visiting our campus next week to work with our students to learn more about the ways young children think about their world. We welcome the Yale team to our campus. Participation in the study is voluntary and your written permission is required for your child to participate in the study. Please review the information packet that was sent home in your child’s back pack regarding the study, and return to your child’s teacher letting us know whether or not you would like your child to participate. If you have any questions, or need another copy of the packet, please call our office. 203-226-6982
Re-enrollment Agreements
Re-enrollment agreements were sent to all families currently enrolled in our Twos and Threes as well as any siblings we have received applications for over the Thanksgiving break. Families in our Fours or Fives must contact our Director of Admissions, Kim McElderry to receive a re-enrollment agreement if they have not already done so. kMcelderry@landmarkpreschool.org If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Director, Siobhan Powers Streams sstreams@landmarkpreschool.org or Kim McElderry.
Picture Re-Takes
If your child was not quite ready for his/her close-up on picture day and you would like to try again, Slayton Studios will be here on Wednesday, January 26th. Re-takes are by appointment only, and the original portrait package must be returned. If this is the first time your child’s picture is being taken, portraits must be pre-paid. Please contact Fran Scippa to make an appointment for a re-take, or for more information at: fscippa@landmarkpreschool.org
Lost & Found
There are many mittens, gloves, and hats in our lost and found bin in the office. If your child is missing something, please stop by and check for it. We recommend labeling all items of clothing with your child’s name to make it easier to return items to their proper owner.
Sound Tigers!
Calling all hockey fans! We have once again arranged a special Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Academy section at the Sound Tigers vs Portland Pirates game on Sunday, February 13th at 3pm. Tickets are available for this event at the very special price of $15/each, but must be purchased in advance. All tickets will be distributed Friday, February 11th. These tickets are limited and this event sells out very quickly, so be sure and reserve you spots today! Get a group together for an afternoon of family fun!
If you'd like to purchase tickets, please download
the order form and return it to the main office with payment (checks made payable to Ridgefield Academy) no later than Monday, February 7th.
Please note, all students must be accompanied by an adult throughout the afternoon. For directions and information about the Arena at Harbor Yard please go to: www.soundtigers.com. “Souper Bowl” Feb 3rd & 4thAs the day of the big game approaches, we will be taking advantage of this opportunity to once again reach out to those in our community who may need a helping hand. This time the theme is soup. Each classroom will have a collection box, and children are asked to bring a can (or more if you like) of soup. We will donate all soup to the Connecticut Food Bank, which distributes supplies throughout our region. The children will use the cans of soup in class for some math activities before we send them on their way, counting, sorting, etc…. So we can learn all about what kind of soup our friends and teachers like to eat. To add to the fun, on the 3rd & the 4th the children are encouraged to wear sports jerseys (football or any other sport). We are looking for volunteers to help us deliver the soup to the Food Bank, if you can help please contact Siobhan Streams at sstreams@landmarkpreschool.org Spring Break Camp! Looking for something fun to do during spring break?
Well look no further than Landmark Preschool! Last year, our spring break camp was such a success that we'll be offering it once again this year. Ones Fun and Maternity Leave Teacher, Dr. Mia Mercurio-Morse, known to Landmark as Ms. Mia has planned two weeks of fun and entertainment for children in our Threes through Kindergarten programs.
The week of March 14th our theme will be "The Luck of the Irish: A Celebration of All Things Green!" The week of March 21st our theme will be "Let's Welcome Spring." Register for one week or both! A flyer and registration form will be sent home in your child’s folder. For more information, please contact the main office at 203-226-6982.
