There's always paperwork to finish!
Welcome to a New School Year at Landmark Preschool!
Welcome back!! We've had a busy and wonderful week so far and are looking forward to another great school year. This newsletter, and the weekly ones that follow, will become an invaluable tool in staying up to date with recent and upcoming events as well as affording you a photographical peek into your child's day to day routine. If you'd like an email address added (or removed) from this weekly publication, please contact Rebecca Toon via email (rtoon@landmarkpreschool.org).
Important Information Regarding Snack Time

Effective
immediately, we will be making a change to our snack routine this year. We are
discontinuing the practice of family style snack. Given the large number of children with various allergies and dietary restrictions, managing a class snack has become complex and time consuming for our classroom teachers. Only a child’s parent or physician can evaluate the appropriateness of a given food item for a given child. Therefore, please be sure to send a snack in your child’s lunch box each day, including pizza day. Please label the snack with your child’s name. We will continue to serve water at snack. An additional drink is not necessary. If your child is staying for After Care, please remember to include an extra snack and drink labeled “After Care”.
We do ask that our families continue to avoid sending items containing peanuts or tree-nuts so that we can maintain a safe environment for all our students.
Please Join Us for "Adventures in Parenting"
We spend a lot of time sharing stories with our children. Often, they are stories from books. Sometimes, they are stories of us. This is the tradition and art of oral storytelling, and was once an art form in our culture.
Westport has enjoyed a revival of this art form recently through a wildly successful storytelling series at the Westport Arts Center. Landmark is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with local arts collaborative Mouse Muse Productions, to bring their innovative storytelling for adults program to Landmark.
Being a parent is a uniquely challenging, rewarding, joyful and at times hilarious journey. There are stories that make us laugh, stories that make us cry, and stories which remind us of all that we share as parents. Tell a story, or just come and enjoy! Either way it will be a memorable way to start our school year!
Please join us on September 19th, at 7PM to share with your friends and neighbors, “Adventures in Parenting”. Tickets are $20, and include refreshments. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Landmark Parent's Association.

Parents Night - Tuesday, September 27th
We invite you to
join us for our Parents Orientation Night, Tuesday, September 27th. LPA, our parent
association, will provide light refreshments in the gym from 6:30 –7:00, and
parents will have the chance to meet other families and LPA representatives. There will be a brief presentation in
the gym beginning at 7:00 PM.
You will have the opportunity to meet our Special Subject Teachers, and
then visit your child’s classroom to spend some time with the Head Teachers and
Assistant Teachers learning about your child’s day. To allow parents to focus on the teacher presentations, this
is a child-free evening, so please book your babysitters! We should be finished with
presentations by 8:00 p.m.
Hot Lunch Program
If you would like to sign your child up for our Hot Lunch Program and have not yet done so, please return your form to the main office as soon as possible. If you need another form or would like more information about this program, information and registration forms are available on our
website. We will begin serving pizza on Tuesday, September 27th. If your child does not wish to participate in the pizza lunches, you may simply send a lunch box as usual. Please note: If your child has a food allergy you may phone Westport Pizzeria at 203-226-4094 for a list of ingredients so that you may determine if your child may participate in our Hot Lunch Program.

Welcome to Our
Playground

What a lovely sight this afternoon to see parents and students playing on the playground after school. We've missed you! As always, please feel free
to meet on our lower playground for some after-school fun. We do ask that parents supervise their children at all times and ensure that they use equipment safely so
that we can continue to allow this playground to be open for the enjoyment of
all after school. Please remember that we do have many
children with allergies, so we do ask that you not serve snacks containing nuts or
peanuts. To avoid attracting
little critters, we do not have trash cans on the playground, they are located
in the lobby by the bathrooms. Please help keep our playground clean and safe by disposing of your
trash properly.
WELCOME BACK!
