What's New at Landmark...

Fall Family Day

Thank you to all of our Landmark families, past, present and future, who joined us for Fall Family Day at Ridgefield Academy.  It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and we trust that you had a wonderful time exploring all the opportunities Ridgefield Academy has to offer.

Denim Days

Thank you to all who participated in our Denim Days fundraiser to raise research funds and awareness for breast cancer research.  So far, with your help, we have raised $1,445!  If you did not have a chance to participate last week, but would like to; we will continue accepting donations through the end of the week.  Please make checks payable to Lee National Denim Day or Ridgefield Academy.

SMILE! It's Almost Time For School Photos!

Our wonderful photographer from Skylight Studios will be here on October 27th & 28th to capture those timeless and treasured preschool memories.  Teachers will be sending home package information and a payment envelope in your child's backpack this past Thursday, so please contact the office if you did not receive one.  Please remember that packages must be prepaid by the day of your child's photo; however, if for any reason you are not pleased with your photographs, Skylight Studios will either retake the photo or refund your money.  If you choose not to purchase a photograph package, your child's photo will be taken for yearbook purposes only.

Landmark Preschoolers READ for the RECORD

On Thursday, October 6th, students in many of Landmark's classrooms joined millions of students around the country in setting a book reading record by participating in Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Campaign. The purpose of this event was to spread awareness of the importance of early childhood literacy.

The goal was to set a new World Record for the most people reading the same book on the same day. Much to  our delight, the book chosen was "Llama Llama Red Pajama" by Anna Dewdney.

In addition, this year Jumpstart also set an all-new record for the largest digital reading experience by reading "Llama Llama Red Pajama" at wegivebooks.org on computers and SmartBoards across the country.

Ms. Toon brought her favorite quilt (much like baby llama's quilt) and afterwards, students played "Where's Llama, Llama" on the SmartBoard.

Congratulations to our World Record Students!

Halloween Celebrations, Monday, October 31st

Please check your child’s daily sheet for details, as each class has a different schedule. Following our classroom celebrations, all families are invited to join us for a concert with Tom Weber from 2:00-3:00 in our gym. Thank you to LPA for sponsoring this fun holiday event.

Open House Dates

Although it seems as though the school year has just begun, it is already time for next year’s families to begin visiting preschools. We find that the families who choose this program for their children have a high degree of commitment to excellence in preschool education. Our program is a great fit for families like yours. If you have a friend who you think would like to know more about our program, please tell them about our upcoming open houses, or they can contact our Admissions Director, Kim McElderry at KMcElderry@landmarkpreschool.org for a personal tour.

The Yearbook Committee is looking for a few good volunteers! If you enjoy photographing little ones and would like to help with this project, please contact our wonderful Yearbook Chairman, Anna Wood (annawood.home@gmail.com). We are still looking for volunteers to take photos in Mrs. Macchia's, Mrs. Simoulidis' and Mrs. Lemieux's classrooms.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner, and we're looking for volunteers!  If you are interested in helping, please contact Book Fair Chair Luisa Fitzpatrick (luisafitz@mac.com) for ways you can help.

Museum Night

Our annual Museum Night was a fabulous celebration of the creative spirit of childhood! About 100 parents gathered to enjoy the transformation of our gym into an art gallery. They enjoyed delicious refreshments provided by LPA, and the chance to meet other Landmark families while surrounded by the work of little fingers combined with big ideas. Our thanks to all who helped make this special evening possible, our Museum Night Committee volunteers: Dina Carlson, Katie Carter, Lisa Dearborn, Fernanda DiFilippo, Tammy Dryden, Kelly Emmert, Yvette Fried, Jen Forrest (and her gracious mother-in-law), Tom Jendrock (and his sons Julian and Justin), Alexandra Lebrija, Kara Lehrer, Lauren Lieberman, Tracey Limone, Amy Lopatin, Dana Mandel, Nicole Mascera, Erin Melson, Deborah Mogelof, Alison Roberts, Karen Sutton, Chrissy Toeplitz, LJ Wilks, Missy Zahler

Special thanks to our faculty for all the wonderful work they did for the show, to David and Allison Keisman for underwriting the beer and wine, and Anne Epstein for chairing this wonderful event.
