No School Friday, November 11th - Veteran's Day

Please note school will be closed Friday, November 11th in observance of Veteran's Day.

A special word of gratitude to all our Veterans.  Thank you for service and dedication to our country.

Please check your child’s daily sheet for details as each class has their own date and time and has planned their own age-appropriate celebration. Please do remember that there is no aftercare on Tuesday, November 22nd and no school Wednesday, November 23rd - Friday, November 25th. Classes will resume on Monday, November 29th.

Next Steps Coffees

In the upcoming weeks, we will host three informational coffees to help our current Landmark families learn more about the next step in their child's academic journey.  During these coffees, head teachers will be on hand to discuss curriculum and answer any questions you may have.  Families will then have an opportunity to tour the classrooms.  Times and dates are below; please note that these coffees are for our current Landmark families.  Families who are interested in joining the Landmark community should contact Kim McElderry for more information on our upcoming Open Houses.
  • Current 3s rising to 4s program - Wednesday, November 16th - 9:00am in the Media Room
  • Current 4s and 5s interested in our Kindergarten program - Friday, November 18th - 9:00am in the Media Room
  • Current 2s rising to 3s program - Friday, December 9th - 9:15am in the Media Room

Winter Weather Reminder

Given the early onset of cooler weather (and snow!) we'd like to offer you a few reminders as winter approaches:
  • Please provide a fresh set of weather appropriate clothing in your child's cubby; including socks and shoes.
  • Make sure all coats, mittens, scarves and hats are marked with your child's name.
  • Dress your child each day as if they will go outside, if even for just a few moments.  We make every effort to include a bit of outdoor activity in each day as the temperature allows.
  • As winter weather arrives, so do winter colds and flu.  Please refer to the handbook guidelines when your child is ill.
LPA News & Community Service

Our Scholastic Book Fair will be held on December 1st, and we're looking for volunteers!  If you are interested in helping, especially between the hours of 8:00-8:30am and 2:30-3:30pm, please contact Book Fair Chair Luisa Fitzpatrick (luisafitz@mac.com) for ways you can help.  Also this year, the Book Fair Committee will be offering available space to our Landmark families for crafts, products or services they'd like to display.  For more information, please contact Missy Zahler (mazyto1@yahoo.com) or Luisa Fitzpatrick (luisafitz@mac.com).

LPA Meeting

There will be an LPA Meeting on November 21st at 9:15am in the Media Room.  Please join us, children are always welcome!

In 2009 a group of kids and their parents came up with an idea of combining their passion for LEGO® and their desire to help children who were affected by cancer.  Why not challenge themselves to build difficult LEGO® projects and ask donors to pledge to support their building efforts. Furthermore, they could create an exposition where they could showcase their masterpieces, unite with fellow LEGO® maniacs while raising  money to support the work of CancerCare. This grassroots effort of creative and dedicated children raised approximately $150,000.00 and entertained over 3,000 people on a magical Saturday last November.

This year, children and their parents will once again participate in this creative act of compassion, and Landmark will help by collecting new and gently used Legos for this project.  If your family would like to participate, you can drop off your donations in the office beginning Monday, October 31st through Monday, November 14th.  For more information on Blocks of Love, you can visit their website here.

Connecticut Food Bank Food Drive

We are currently collecting nonperishable canned and boxed food as well as gift cards to local grocery stores for the Connecticut Food Bank in Fairfield. There is a box located outside of each classroom for your donations. We will also need several volunteers to deliver the items on Friday the 18th. If you would like to volunteer, please email Sarah Wolf at swolf@landmarkpreschool.org. More information will be forthcoming in your child's daily sheet.
