| Tutorial for Revised Homework Page (Grades 5-8) | | | | | | | | To view the tutorial for the revised homework page, click the link below. A new window will open and your tutorial will begin immediately. The tutorial is a mix of both text and audio, so you'll want to have your speakers turned on. The tutorial will move through the various steps automatically, you will not need to do anything but watch and listen. If needed, you can pause the tutorial or use the arrows to move back and forward if you'd like to hear something again. If you have difficulty viewing the tutorial, please email me (rtoon@ridgefieldacademy.org). Please note the following important reminders: - Assignments for the week should be posted by 12:00pm on Saturday.
- Testing phase for this new area will begin immediately and run through Friday, January 13th. During this time, families will not have access to view or print from the new area, so you will need to continue to post your homework in both the new section (the one entitled, "TEST DO NOT DELETE") and the section you are currently
using to post your homework. This will enable us to test the new area,
while continuing to ensure access for our families. Once these areas
are merged, you will only need to post in the new section.
- Remember, you do not need to recreate the table each week, simply edit the type.
- Once you've watched the tutorial, give it a try! Attempt to enter your homework assignments for this week into the new area (again, entitled, "TEST DO NOT DELETE") in addition to entering them into the current homework section. If you have difficulties, contact me (rtoon@ridgefieldacademy.org) and I will do my best to help you through email. We are asking that everyone make an effort to post their assignments for the week of January 9th-13th by Saturday, January 7th in order for our "test family" to view the new system and ensure it is working properly. Our hope is to go "live" with this new system before the end of the month.
- As you explore the new homework area, please take a moment to ensure that I have spelled your name correctly, as well as correctly identified your classes. I've made every effort to be meticulous, but errors do occur. Should you find an error, please don't hesitate to bring it to my attention.
- I will be available all day on Monday, January 9th and Wednesday, January 11th to answer any questions you might have, or to assist you in adjusting your table to meet any specific needs you may have. If you would like to meet with me at this time, please email me (rtoon@ridgefieldacademy.org) with one or two time periods when you are free and I will do my best to accommodate you.

| Frequently Asked Questions | | | | | | | | In your email, it says to put the information in the table on the new page and put the same information on the old page. Is there a way to copy and paste the table?- Go to the new area (TEST, DO NOT DELETE) where you input your assignments for the week
- Click on the red arrow and select "Copy" (see screenshot below)

- Clicking on "Copy" in the previous screen, will bring up the screen below, if you want the homework assignments to show up on your homepage, simply choose the folder above the one currently highlighted (see screenshot below).

- Once you select it, "7th Grade Science (Mrs. Lasala)" should turn bold. This indicates that this is the folder your article (table) will be copied to. Once highlighted, choose "Copy" from the bottom of the window
- Your table should be copied over to the your homepage. Typically, your newly copied material will either be placed first or last on the page. If you'd like to move it, simply click the red arrow and choose "Order" (see screenshot below). You can then order them however you'd like.

Important Note: Because the information has been copied over, rather than linked, changing the test section will not change your existing section. For instance if you were to notice that there is a typo in the test section, you'd need to change it both in the test section and in the current section. Conversely, the test section is linked to the new, central homework page. So, given the same situation referenced above, once we're "live" you'll only need to change it in your "test" section and it will automatically change it in the "central location."
Is there a way to copy and paste directly into the tables? My assignments for all 3 sections sometimes differ, but not always - and when they do, there are generally relatively small differences. You can copy and paste information into the table one day at a time. Example: - Select the content for Monday by highlighting it with your cursor.
- Select "CMD + C" (to copy).
- Place your cursor in the field where Monday's assignment should be pasted, but instead of selecting CMD + V (typically for paste), go up to the tool bar and choose the icon for "Paste Plain Text" (see screenshot below).
- This will open a new text box. Place your cursor in the new box and choose CMD + V (or right click and select "Paste") to paste your information into the box. When you are done, click "Insert" (see screenshot below). Pasting text in this manner will help prevent stray coding and tags from other text editors from interfering with the appearance of your table. Note: This is sound advice to follow any time you are pasting things into the website text editor.

Can I customize my table with the days of the week in Spanish? Can I extend the table to give a two week glance? Certainly. I am happy to work with you to create a table that gives you the same information you're currently providing to your students. If you would like help in customizing your table, please don't hesitate to email me (rtoon@ridgefieldacademy.org).
Can the page on which I post be mirrored to my seventh and eighth grade page for those students/parents who will look for assignments the old-fashioned way? Absolutely. Once we go "live" I'll be happy to mirror the new assignment section to your separate, individual pages for those who prefer to do it "old school." In fact, in most cases we can even move what is now entitled the "TEST, DO NOT DELETE" section on to your personal page (as opposed to being a subpage) if you'd prefer. The possibilities are (almost) endless. If you can communicate to me how I can make things easier for you, I am more than willing to help you attain that goal. | |
