Easton artist Joan Wheeler delivers her artwork today at the Westport Arts Center for its new exhibit “Toy Stories” opening Jan. 27.

Wheeler, an art teacher at Ridgefield Academy, is one of 30 innovative artists selected for the show who work with toys in a range of media. Exhibit curator Helen Klisser During described the genesis of the show this way: “Toys –- how we relate to them and the memories and connections we make, both positive and negative, have played an immeasurable role in contemporary culture. Toys never completely lose their original purpose, but it is this familiarity of the toy that enlivens and enhances the dialogue between the artist and the viewer.”
