Athletics at Ridgefield Academy
Athletics >

Our physical education and athletic programs offer excellent opportunities to reinforce the core values in our school’s mission – respect, empowerment, and responsibility – while also assisting in student development and team building.

Lower School Physical Education allows students to tackle developmentally appropriate exercises in the gym and outdoor playground. The curriculum is designed to explore spatial orientation, refine motor skills, develop hand-eye coordination, and discover body awareness, balance and rhythm.

All RA students are assigned to either the Blue or White school-wide intramural team. Blue and White teams meet each other on the field for friendly games during the school year.

By Grade 6 Physical Education becomes Athletics. All Upper School students are required to play sports during each of the three trimesters. The teams play home and away games against other independent schools. Ridgefield Academy is a member of the Fairchester Athletic Association.

Our outdoor facilities include a synthetic turf field and baseball field. Our gymnasium offers a climbing wall and a full court basketball gym. Our cross country course threads through our beautiful 48/42 acre campus.
