School Psychologist/Counselor

Ridgefield Academy seeks an experienced school psychologist / counselor who will work closely with teachers, advisors, and administrators to support students in their social, emotional, and academic development.

The school psychologist / counselor will report directly to the Director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) and the Heads of Lower and Middle and Upper School, while partnering with classroom teachers and advisors in support of our full, PS-8 student body. This full-time, 10-month employee will work directly with students to manage and navigate social and emotional issues, work with teachers and advisors to support specific student concerns or group issues that arise in a classroom setting or grade level, institute and lead targeted breakout sessions with student groups, and oversee the Middle and Upper School Wellness Program. The school psychologist / counselor will actively collaborate with parents and faculty regarding students’ social and emotional needs and will be responsible for leading the referral process for students in need of greater support. The ideal candidate would be passionate about working with a broad age group of students and be excited to be an active member of the full school community, potentially also serving as an advisor, coach, or club leader. Successful candidates must be prepared to:
  • Provide short-term counsel to students in need.
  • Make referrals to outside resources and coordinate services with providers.
  • Work with parents, classroom teachers, and advisors to support individual student needs.
  • Facilitate appropriate accommodations and assist teachers to effectively utilize recommendations from neuropsychological testing.
  • Work closely with the Learning Specialist to evaluate student testing and create student academic plans.
  • Work with grade level teams and advisor groups to address grade level-specific issues and concerns, and potentially build and lead responsive program.
  • Present developmentally-appropriate parent programming about child development and emotional issues impacting their children.
  • Advance and implement the Middle and Upper School Wellness Program, and develop other ad hoc programming to support PS-8 grade students' social and emotional needs.
The successful candidate for this position will be equally comfortable working with students, parents, teachers, and administrators across our Preschool, Lower (Grades K-3), Middle (Grades 4-5), and Upper (Grades 6-8) School divisions. The candidate will share expertise stemming from years of successfully providing psychological services to a range of children in an academic environment. He/she should demonstrate a love of working with children, as well as expertise in child development, the ability to successfully partner with parents and colleagues, flexibility, and a great sense of humor.

Director of Development

Ridgefield Academy, Inc. is seeking a Director of Development who will be responsible for defining and implementing development activities that span annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, volunteer management, and development operations. Reporting to the Head of School and a member of the School’s leadership team, the Director of Development will play a crucial role in defining and implementing the School’s development strategy and priorities. In this collaborative position, the Director of Development will work closely with the administration, faculty, high-level volunteers, donors, and board members, and represent the School and its goals to a variety of internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in development, excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, persistent, intuitive, a creative problem-solver, strategic, a team player, and enjoy interacting with donors, trustees, and other administrators. A strong knowledge of fundraising management is required. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge & Greater Giving software and independent school or non-profit experience are desired.

Academic Technology Coordinator

Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool (Ridgefield, CT) has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, energetic, and enthusiastic educational technologist.

Responsibilities will include teaching technology-oriented classes in grades 4-8 that build on the curriculum of other classes and also liaising with K-8 teachers across disciplines to create student-centered interdisciplinary learning experiences for students. The Academic Technology Coordinator will also manage our state of the art digital media facilities, which include a computer lab, a green screen room, and a sound studio, as well as a secondary computer lab.

A successful candidate will:
  • inspire teachers and students with a passion for creating with technology in the classroom
  • have experience with a wide range of technologies, comfortable with everything from a camera to a soldering iron
  • help teachers integrate technology into their classes, teaching necessary skills and also helping facilitate/co-teaching classes in other disciplines
  • be a resource for students as they work on independent or group work
  • proactively seek out opportunities to make our digital media facilities a hub of interdisciplinary learning
  • be eager to showcase student work both in school and at outside of it
  • develop and lead upper school elective courses and lower/middle school after school enrichment clubs
  • want to be a part of the school community beyond assigned classes and school day responsibilities
  • have both a good sense of humor and patience when working with others
Experience teaching technology to middle school-aged students is strongly preferred, as is a demonstrable history of collaborative work with teachers of all disciplines.

The Academic Technology Coordinator reports to the Director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, but also has divisional responsibilities to the Head of Preschool and Lower School and the Head of Middle and Upper Schools.
