Ridgefield Academy is an independent day school in Ridgefield, CT with students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Our Landmark Preschools have programs for children ages one - five at our Ridgefield, Redding and Westport, CT locations and Bedford, NY.

Faculty Assignments
All faculty are expected to have expertise at the grade level and/or within the subject areas for the position. In addition, it is essential to have demonstrated the ability to create a flexible educational program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. In addition, it is expected that all employees agree to perform additional assigned duties such as coaching, supervision of student activities and trips, attendance at school events and assignments supporting our service learning program.

Openings On The Ridgefield Campus

Photographer/Videographer

The Photographer and Videographer reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and works to generate visual content to support the marketing and communications needs of the Academy. This position has a particular focus on video and photography, but will assist with social media and other department needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute the video and photographic needs of the Academy, including major events, sporting events, arts, academics, community life, and other areas to support signature programs marketing and general marketing efforts
  • Maintain the photography database
  • Ensure all graphic products meet the branding guidelines and style of the Academy
  • Assist with content creation, including writing, photography, video, and graphics
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Director
Essential Competencies
  • Strong portfolio showcasing both video and photography skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create content as well as identify and generate creative ideas
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate widely with the Advancement Team and various constituencies throughout the School’s community
  • Technical skills to support the above
  • Bachelor’s degree in a creative or communications field
  • This position requires some evening and weekend hours

Lower School Long-Term Substitute

Ridgefield Academy has an opportunity for a lower school teacher to cover a leave of absence from August 28, 2018 - November 21, 2018. This is a five day assignment with the hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm.

All lower school faculty are expected to create a flexible educational program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other faculty and staff members. This is to be accomplished through the use of a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, discovery, etc. along with the use of computers, SmartBoard, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement lessons and other class activities.

The successful candidate must have proven classroom experience teaching in the lower school. In addition, he/she must possess a strong love for children and a willingness to work as part of a team to create positive learning communities within the classroom that acknowledge and respect children’s social and emotional interactions and growth.

The selected candidate will be expected to have:
  • A proven ability to appropriately utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught and communicate with and obtain feedback from students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding;
  • An understanding of the principles of student growth, development and learning
  • The ability to manage the educational setting in a manner that promotes positive student behavior and a safe and healthy environment;
  • The ability to work productively with colleagues, parents and community members

Assistant Teacher (Part-Time) Preschool 3's
Landmark Preschool is looking for an assistant teacher in the 3's program at our Bedford Campus. The assistant teacher will assist the head teacher by implementing the planned activities and lessons plans using the framework for the program. The assistant teacher must be able to effectively support the head teacher as well as students through a variety of methods and using positive encouragement supporting the mission of the school and the curriculum.

The successful candidate must possess a strong love for children and a willingness to work as part of a team to create positive learning communities within the classroom that acknowledges and respects children's social and emotional interactions and growth. This is a Monday - Friday position with the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Early childhood teaching experience is required and a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education is preferred

Landmark Preschool has an opportunity for a part-time Spanish teacher for students ages 3 - 5 beginning on August 22, 2018. The Preschool Spanish Teacher is responsible for creating a flexible foreign language program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth appropriate for preschool students; to establish an effective rapport with the students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide an appreciation for foreign language in accordance with each student’s ability.

You will work closely with the Preschool Director and classroom teachers to support themes and provide age-appropriate lessons using songs, art, creative movement, and other activities. It is important to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

The schedule for this position is 1.5 hours two mornings a week at our Redding Campus and 3.5 hours two mornings a week at our Westport Campus.

A degree in early childhood education is preferred, along with proficiency in Spanish. A minimum of one year classroom teaching experience is required.
