Ridgefield Academy is an independent day school in Ridgefield, CT with students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. Our Landmark Preschools have programs for children ages one - five at our Ridgefield, Redding and Westport, CT locations and Bedford, NY.

Faculty Assignments
All faculty are expected to have expertise at the grade level and/or within the subject areas for the position. Communications Writer & Social Media Specialist

The Communications Writer & Social Media Specialist supports the efforts of the Director of Marketing & Communications and works with other members of the MarCom Department to develop and implement strategies to promote Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool (4 campuses) and ensure consistency of messaging to various constituency groups.

This position has the responsibility of attracting and interacting with targeted virtual communities and networks through the development and implementation of marketing strategies for Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool’s social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This individual serves as a communications resource for administration, faculty, staff, parents, and others throughout the Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool community by handling all news and information gathering and dissemination responsibilities for the School, including the interviewing, writing, and editing needs for RA’s and Landmark Preschool’s internal constituency groups (parents, faculty/staff, alumni, etc.), as well as the general public, including press releases, newsletters, direct communications, special event communications, blogging, creating social media profiles, managing regular posts and responding to followers. This position will focus on passionately telling Ridgefield Academy’s/Landmark Preschool’s story through digital and print media channels.

Position Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as managing editor and primary writer for the RA Weekly online newsletter, including content planning, coordination of writing assignments, interviewing, and information gathering and verification.
  • Works with the Photographer/Videographer/Graphic Designer on materials needed they relate to communications.
  • Collects and verifies news for sharing with the school community and general public (when appropriate) through public relations efforts or with RA’s internal constituency groups through one or more of the School’s communication vehicles (RA Weekly, Connections Magazine, or other newsletters, etc.).
  • Manages the day-to-day public relations efforts, including writing and pitching of press releases, and ongoing development of relationships with media representatives.
  • Serves as a primary content generator for marketing and communications needs.
  • Builds and executes social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.
  • Generates, edits, publishes and shares daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action.
  • Builds and optimizes pages within each platform to increase the visibility of school’s social content.
  • Continuously improves viewer engagement by analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information.
  • Collaborates with other departments (e.g. admissions, development, etc.) to illustrate the passion and energy of our school and manage its reputation.

Skills Required and Additional Requirements of Position
  • Excellent and engaging writing and communication skills that convey the passion of our school
  • Digital fluency is required for facilitating digital storytelling and posting various stories/images on our School’s websites and on social media and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, etc. Capable of competently operating technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of using tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with others; ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive professional relationships
  • It is essential to stay at the leading edge of industry trends, in order to create a marketing strategy that generates inbound leads, gains followers, and creates a positive image for Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool
  • Responsibility for regularly evaluating the success of our social marketing efforts and tweaking the marketing strategy as needed with the goal of gradually achieving superior customer engagement, website traffic and revenue by strategically exploiting all aspects of the social media marketing roadmap.
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills with a strong degree of self- direction, motivation, and an appropriate level of assertiveness
  • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects
  • Energetic, creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas, troubleshoot issues and problem-solve
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required to cover important School events including musicals, alumni events, or other events that cannot be covered during the week

Education and Experience

Graphic Designer/Photographer/Videographer

The Graphic Designer/Photographer/Videographer supports the efforts of the Director of Marketing & Communications and works with other members of the MarCom Department and Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool communities to develop photographs, videos, and graphic design elements to support the marketing efforts of the school. The Graphic Designer/Photographer/Videographer will produce dynamic photography for print and online materials, video content for the School’s websites and social media channels, including summer programs, graphic design materials as needed, and will assist the Director of Marketing & Communications in building brand awareness. It is important that the Graphic Designer/ Photographer/Videographer be an all-around great communicator and comfortable working with children and adults of all ages.

Position Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute the photographic needs of RA and Landmark, including major events, sporting events, arts, academics, community life and other areas to support signature programs, marketing, and general marketing efforts
  • Create dynamic and engaging video content for the RA and Landmark Preschool websites and social media channels
  • Support the communications needs of the Development Office and Parents’ Associations
  • Assist the Director of Marketing & Communications and Communications Writer & Social Media Specialist to curate content for all RA and Landmark Preschool social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Maintain the photography and video database
  • Develop and design Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool ads, flyers, posters, admission materials, publications, event signage, invitations, and other graphic design needs to support and promote the visibility of all four campuses
  • Create vibrant design pieces that communicate the culture of the school
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Ridgefield Academy and Landmark Preschool brand and style to incorporate into graphic design work
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Marketing & Communications

Skills Required and Additional Requirements of Position
  • Strong portfolio showcasing video and photography skills, including editing
  • Demonstration of strong graphic design skills
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud products; Photoshop, Lightroom and InDesign and/or Illustrator
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high energy and creative • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create content as well as identify and generate creative ideas
  • Organized, ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and work independently while meeting deadlines

Education and Experience
  • The ideal candidate will have 1 – 3 years of experience in photography, videography and graphic design and be adept at using media (video & photography) to tell a story
  • Knowledgeable with graphic design software and tools, such as Photoshop and InDesign is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a creative or communications field

Systems Administrator

Ridgefield Academy, a Preschool – Grade 8 school in Ridgefield, CT, has an opening for a Systems Administrator to start April 2019. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning, the Systems Administrator will create, deliver, and support operational technology that strengthens and supports the educational mission of the school and provides its administrative offices the systems and support that they need to run effectively.

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the continued development and maintenance of Ridgefield Academy’s infrastructure, including, but not limited to, servers, switches, wireless networking, backup systems, telecommunications systems, inventory of desktop and laptop computers, system imaging processes, and all academic-facing technology resources. The Systems Administrator will also provide technical support for Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool’s four campuses (Ridgefield, Westport, Redding, Bedford).

Candidates should have experience managing technology infrastructure in a K-8 setting. Hands-on experience with macOS, Windows, Chrome-based systems, and Google Suite deployment in an educational setting is greatly preferred, as is familiarity with centralized system imaging and virtualization. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaboratively is vital. Patience, collegiality, and an eagerness to collaborate are qualities that a successful candidate will possess, as is good humor and a willingness to be an active part of the Ridgefield Academy community.

Manager of Annual Fund and Alumni Engagement

As a resourceful and energetic fundraiser, you are invited to apply to Ridgefield Academy as the Manager of Annual Fund and Alumni Engagement. In this role, you will plan and execute a comprehensive Annual Fund campaign that aims to renew, engage and grow the school’s donor base.

Your role will be comprehensive and will have you helping to identify prospective donors,  conducting personal visits to cultivate donors within our Patriot’ and Founders’ Giving societies, entering gifts, preparing gift acknowledgement letters, contributing to the accuracy of our Raiser’s Edge database, and producing our annual report.

You will collaborate with the Director of Development to strategize donor centric messaging and segmentation. From there, you will take the lead for producing Annual Fund collateral and solicitation letters, demonstrating the impact the Annual Fund has on students and mobilizing Class Captain volunteers to inspire peer to peer parent giving.

Additionally, you will work with the Director of Development to build alumni relationships and increase Annual Fund giving through a variety of events, programs and communications.

Ridgefield Academy is a vibrant, young private school operating on four campuses. Our 42-acre Ridgefield campus features a Landmark Preschool and a thriving  K - Grade 8  school. Three additional  Landmark Preschools are located in Westport and Redding CT and Bedford, NY.

Requirements:

Substitute Teaching Assignments

Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool is currently seeking substitute teachers for Preschool (Redding, Ridgefield, Westport and Bedford, NY Campuses) and Kindergarten through 8th Grade (Ridgefield Campus only). Most assignments will be on a daily basis but there are occasional opportunities for longer term assignments.

We are seeking candidates with general subject matter experience for all age and grade levels as well as those who have experience in specific subject areas for our middle and upper schools. Subject areas include: Math, Science, History, English, Technology, World Languages (Spanish and French), Music and Art.
