HEAD OF SCHOOL TOM MAIN PRESENTS AT NAIS NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Head of School Tom Main traveled to Long Beach, California this week to present at the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Annual Conference. The conference is the premier professional development and networking event for administrators, trustees, and teachers at independent schools and attracts more than 5,500 participants over the course of three days.

Tom joined two other heads of schools, Karen Eshoo, King School (CT) and Chris Bright, Vistamar School (CA) to lead a session on "Passing Batons: How Three Heads Partnered to Create Successful Transitions for Their Schools." The speakers shared their experiences of how they created strong partnerships that contributed to successful transitions for their schools and discussed how they communicated consistently, effectively, and “just enough” as outgoing heads with their successors; took strategic action to set up their successors for success; and navigated expectations and opportunities as incoming heads in their new schools while setting appropriate and respectful boundaries.

We look forward to welcoming Tom back to campus next week and learning more about his key insights from the conference.
