Applying to K-Grade 8

Ridgefield Academy is currently welcoming applications for 2020-2021 in all grade levels. We encourage you to begin the admission process outlined below. The admission office is excited to help guide you through this process.
If you are interested in enrolling for the 2019-2020 school term, please call us at 203.894.1800 to discuss availability.

Step 1: Interest/Inquire

You may request information about Ridgefield Academy by completing the online inquiry form, or by contacting David Suter, Associate Head of School & Director of Enrollment, by phone (203.894.1800 x112) or by email.

Step 2: Parent Campus Visit/Tour

We invite you to take a tour of our campus, meet our students and faculty, and learn more about our academic programs during one of our Admissions Events. Additionally, we encourage you to schedule a private parent visit during which we can sit and talk about your child or children and what you are looking for in your next school. You may schedule your visit either before or after an application has been submitted by calling the Admission Office at 203.894.1800 x112.

Step 3: Apply

For your convenience, Ridgefield Academy accepts the Standard Application Online (SAO), which simplifies the application process by allowing you to apply to multiple schools using a single application. SAO is also used by many of our peer schools and boarding schools.

To begin your application, please visit the SAO website and create an account or sign in to complete the Student Profile.

Upon RA's receipt of the Student Profile and a non-refundable fee of $50, we will invite you to campus for a campus tour and interview with a member of the Admissions team.

For for more information about the Standard Application Online, please visit the Standard Application Online (SAO) FAQs.

The deadline for applications to the first round of admissions is January 15, 2020. Applications completed after that date will be reviewed on a rolling basis as space allows. The rolling admissions process in no way hinders a family's ability to find the best school fit when space is available.

Step 4: Supplemental Materials/Student Visit

Once the application has been received, student candidates will be invited to visit campus for a ‘day in the life’ of attending classes, meeting teachers and students, and meeting with the Director of Enrollment. Supplemental materials such as transcripts and recommendations can be submitted either before or after a student's day visit.

Step 5: Standardized Testing

Applicants to grades 5-8 are required to submit either their SSAT or their ISEE scores from the current year. To register or find locations and testing dates, please visit either the SSAT or ISEE websites for details. Applicants to grades K-4 will complete an in-house assessment, which may include a DRA (diagnostic reading assessment, writing prompt, and/or math assessment).
