EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM

Ridgefield Academy offers a Before and After-Care Program that provides adult supervision for children outside of school hours. Before-Care for Kindergarten - Grade 8 offers free time in the gym. After-Care for Kindergarten - Grade 3 offers a variety of activities: table games, outdoor recess, and a quiet area to relax or do homework. Our Homework Club for students in Grades 4 - 8 is available for Middle and Upper School students. Details for this program are noted below. To successfully enroll your child in the Extended Care program, please complete the registration form found on this page.

Homework Club: RA offers a quiet, proctored study hall every day from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. This program gives students an opportunity to begin their homework in a school setting before going home or to their afternoon activities. It is not meant to be a tutoring session or a group-work study hall, but a comfortable place for individuals to get organized, finish incomplete work, or complete the night’s assignments. It can also provide a space for free-reading or other quiet activity while waiting to be picked up.

Extended Care Policies

Before-Care begins at 7:30 a.m.
After-Care ends promptly at 5:30 p.m.

For children attending After-Care, please send a snack/drink (labeled: After-Care) that they can enjoy after school. Please remember that Ridgefield Academy is a nut-aware school.

If you need to reach the school during Extended Care hours, please call the Main Office at 203.894.1800. Parking is not permitted curbside in front of the Summit Building between 3:15 and 3:45 pm due to bus dismissal. Vehicles must be parked in vacant spaces.

Early Dismissal Day Policy: After-Care/Homework Club will not be held on any early dismissal days.

Late Fee Policy: All children attending After-Care must be picked up by 5:30PM. For any child not picked up by 5:30PM, a late fee of $25 will be charged. Please be mindful about picking up your child on time. Multiple late pick-ups can result in dismissal from the Extended Care program.

Deadline: Registration should be completed by July 31. While registrations for this program are accepted on a space-available throughout the year, the regular user rate will only be offered until November 30.

2026-2027 Registration Details

REGULAR (DAILY) USERS
If you would like to enroll your child as a regular user of the Extended Care program, please complete the online form below. While completing the form, you will be asked to select the day(s) of the week on which your child will use the program(s). The fee per day (shown in parentheses) is a single annual charge billed at the beginning of the school year and is nonrefundable (e.g., snow days, student absences, etc.).

DROP-IN USERS
If needed, you may use Extended Care on an occasional (drop-in) basis. You do not need to complete the online form for occasional use of the Extended Care program. For drop-in users, the daily rate for Before-Care is $18.25/day; for After-Care, $31.50/day. Drop-in users must call in advance to request Extended Care for their child. As a drop-in user, we ask that you call no later than 11:00 a.m. to check After-Care or Homework Club availability, and two days in advance for Before-Care availability. However, please be aware that there is no guarantee that a space will be available for your child.
