We are an intentionally designed independent Preschool - Grade 8 school with a culture, campus, and mission centered around childhood.
Every student is seen, understood, and encouraged.
In small classroom settings, dedicated teachers nurture each child with individual attention and encouragement. Our comprehensive educational program inspires students to take risks and ask questions as they discover their own unique strengths, passions, and interests. The culture created at Ridgefield Academy supports each student in trying new things, finding their voice, and speaking their minds. As students develop a growth mindset, confidence and excitement for learning soars. From faculty to coaches to advisors, every adult in the school community contributes to this aspect of the school’s institutional DNA.

When a student rings the Patriot Bell on their first day at RA, they immediately become part of something bigger: a connected community. Programs such as the kindergarten and Grade 8 buddy program partner older and younger students together; exciting annual events such as Patriot Pride Night promote school spirit and involve students, faculty, and parents; and a robust service learning program partners students with service organizations in the local area. By making connections both within our school and with the communities around us, RA students become aware, thoughtful citizens inspired to advocate for positive change.

We believe that childhood should be celebrated at every stage. It is a key component of our mission to establish in an environment in which learning is approached joyfully. Inside the classrooms, teachers design engaging lessons to spark creativity and nurture a natural inclination toward curiosity. Our expansive 42-acre campus is designed with childhood in mind. Students enjoy a bi-level outdoor playscape, a turf field, a kitchen lab, areas of open space, and beautiful mountain views.

The early childhood years set the stage for the rest of a child’s education. RA prepares authentically self-assured, confident young adults who are able to speak their mind. Our graduates rise to be dynamic leaders, creative problem-solvers, and poised public speakers who positively impact the world around them. Here, dreamers become thinkers. Students are empowered to shape their future in high school and beyond.
