At Ridgefield Academy, we believe that every student should have the opportunity to explore their creativity and develop confidence as a musician. The Advanced Music Lab—a new and innovative course launching during Term 2 of the 2025-26 school year—represents an exciting expansion of our music program and a deeper investment in nurturing student talent.

A New Way to Make Music
Designed for students who are ready to take their musical skills to the next level, the Advanced Music Lab focuses on music composition and more challenging repertoire. Students have the opportunity to pursue a path that reflects their interests—whether that means exploring contemporary songwriting or delving into classical composition. Through this work, they learn not only the technical elements of music theory and structure but also how to express ideas, emotions, and identity through sound.

Looking Ahead
This year’s Advanced Music Lab serves as a pilot program, laying the foundation for a long-term vision that will include community performances, collaborations, and enrichment experiences beyond the classroom.
