GET TO KNOW OUR GRADE 8 STUDENTS: EMMA-HAYES S.
“Tell me with whom you associate, and I will tell you who you are,” is an insightful quote by Johan Wolfgang.

What does this quote mean to you? To me it means each of us are at the center of our communities. That is, we influence our communities and in return our communities influence us.

I find that my identity consists of my personal interests and the things that drive me. I’m a soccer player, I’m a loyal, caring friend, I’m a curious, attentive student who loves learning new things. I’m a teenager - and an older sister. My family is the most important community. They have taught me to care about others, dream big, never settle and be true and honest.

I am the sum of my communities. Influenced by each and shaped by every member.

Through these communities I have learned practice makes better, hard work does pay off, when you get knocked down you get right back up - wins are important but how and what you do when you lose shows who you really are.

Guidance from my coaches and teammates has allowed me to make strategic and split-second decisions of my own. I enjoy being part of this community as the lessons learned will forever shape me.

My RA community consists of bright, energetic teachers who share their passions with me everyday. They have shown me what it means to truly love to learn. I’ve been very fortunate to be part of this community where I get to call my instructors...friends.

At the center is my family. They offer me opportunities to try new, exciting, and sometimes scary things. They are my support when I need direction. They push me, build me, influence me, love me, and will always be there for me. I thrive because my communities care and support me.

As my time at RA is nearing the end, I only hope each of you will remember - you are the sum of who you are around.

Thank you.
