HISTORY IN GRADE 6: INTERVIEWING A VETERAN
Each year on November 11, the United States honors all those who have served our country in times of war and times of peace. The day was initially picked to mark the end of World War I, but is now a national celebration to honor all of America's veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice (Veterans Affairs).
As Veterans Day approached this year, Grade 6 student Sam R. decided to interview his grandfather, Bernie Rotunda, who served for 24 months as an army engineer in the Korean War. Sam collected questions from his advisory, and the entire sixth grade gathered on Wednesday to watch the interview and hear the answers to their questions. You can view the full interview below.
Thank you to Mr. Rotunda for sharing his stories and photos with our community and to Sam for conducting this amazing interview!
