Ridgefield Academy offers comprehensive secondary school admissions counseling to help our students and their families plan for the years after Grade 8. As students enter Upper School (Grades 6, 7 and 8), our Head of School and Head of Upper School lead them through an individualized process designed to consider a wide range of options.

Each year, Ridgefield Academy hosts a High School Admissions Fair, bringing to our campus Admissions staff from more than 50 schools. It is open to all students and their families.

We want RA students and their families to make an informed decision about their future schooling. To help them we provide a step-by-step calendar guide and a directory of schools that includes current admissions contact information as well as data on selection criteria. In addition, we prepare students for school visits and the questions that may be asked of them during interviews. Each Grade 8 student has a mock interview with his peers and an RA faculty member.

Our students consistently enjoy a 93% success rate or higher for admission to their first or second choice of secondary schools. In the last three years we have placed students at the following independent day and boarding schools. Likewise, our graduates have attended some of the finest colleges and universities.

Growing Up RA

The Secondary School Placement Process is one that RA takes very seriously for its Grade 8 students. Whether it’s conducting practice interviews or writing an application essay, RA students are provided with a process that will help determine their high school years. We recently caught up with recent RA alums, Eliza Heaton, Annika Morgan, & Alex Ross, who addressed certain questions about how prepared they felt after leaving RA.
